Employment

The Keystone Adventures team is full of energetic, motivated people who are passionate about what they do. Our leaders are paramount to the success of our expeditions and are fully committed to delivering a quality and safe experience. They come from a variety of different backgrounds and are a diverse bunch, united by a common love of travel and the outdoors.

Staff are expected to have a college degree, have the desire and ability to teach and work in the outdoors, be self-motivated, flexible and patient. Our staff is further distinguished by our technical skills, leadership skills, and meta skills. In other words, it’s not enough for staff members to have achieved technical proficiency in a specific activity, they must possess sound judgment and the communication skills necessary to facilitate the safe and fun participation by students with no previous experience.

Our staffing model aims to mix western leaders with local staff. For every activity that we provide, we aim to employ expert activity managers, which are selected on the basis of their experience and their credentials. Safety is most important. Local staff members are selected based primarily on their knowledge of the local environment and culture. All staff receive ongoing training in first aid, technical outdoor skills, leadership, and team-building.

Ultimately, our program leaders are put in place to facilitate the development of our teams and guide them along the way. They actively encourage the teams they are working with to make their own decisions, whilst keeping a close eye on and maintaining the safety of the team at all times.
