Yangshuo (Guangxi) is one of the most popular regions in Asia for outdoor pursuits. With the opening of the new high-speed train line in 2018, the region is now more accessible than ever. Its world-famous topography is ideal for rock climbing and caving, zip-ling and abseiling. The countryside surrounding Yangshuo is stunning, with thousands of karst towers jutting out in all directions, covered with lush vegetation. Only a few kilometers from the tourist mecca of West Street sit quaint farming villages whose local residents still cultivate rice with water buffalo, as their ancestors did.

Our Guangxi programs are focused in and around the town of Yangshuo, and include the full range of outdoor activities, including rope sports, hiking, cycling, kayaking, camping, and team-building activities. There are also numerous possibilities for cultural activities, such as a local cooking class and a fan-painting activity in nearby Fuli Old Town. There are also numerous opportunities for service learning projects in the surrounding countryside, which hasn’t shared in the economic gains enjoyed by Yangshuo proper. For groups interested in traveling further inland, the rice terraces of Longji (north of Guilin) offer access to traditional Miao culture – not to mention jaw-dropping scenery.
