In ancient China, Hainan Island was treated as a place of exile for banished government officials. Nowadays, it is recognized as a beautiful tropical island, teeming with marine life and brimming with gorgeous beaches and mountain scenery.
Hainan is certainly the best place in China to learn how to surf, and the epicenter of China’s emerging surf culture. Surfing is, without a doubt, the most important component of our Hainan programs. Our certified instructors and structured teaching methods aim for nothing short of helping every student succeed in “catch a wave.”
Our Hainan programs are typically based in Shenzhou Peninsula, though may also split beach time with Houhai Bay and Riyue Bay, all outside of the hustle and bustle of Sanya. Students will have the opportunity to experience surfing, hiking, cycling, raft-building, and other activities in accessible environments suited to beginners, under the supervision of experienced guides/instructors. And of course, plenty of beach and pool time
For those interested in including a service learning component, we typically hike to a remote beach and undertake a cleanup project. Along the way, students will learn about the ‘life cycle’ of trash, and why it’s so important to ensure that it doesn’t find its way into the oceans. In short, there is a reason why our Hainan program is consistently our most popular, and we can all but guarantee an unforgettable experience for students.
