Shandong is often thought of as a coastal province, surrounded by the Bohai Sea. Its beaches are among the most popular in northern China, and it is perhaps the epicenter of sailing in China. Its mountainous inland, meanwhile, is home to most of the main cultural and historical attractions. Here, one can find the ancient city of Qufu (the birthplace of Confucius), Mount Tai (the most revered – and climbed! – Daoist holy mountain in China), as well as relics and ruins from ancient Chinese civilizations. Throughout all of these places weaves the Yellow River, expanding and meandering on its way to the Bohai Sea.
Our Shandong programs are as diverse as the province, and span from Qufu in the west, to Rizhao in the southeast, to Qingdao in the northwest. We are proud to offer 4 unique programs in the province, suitable for different age groups, durations, and targeted program outcomes.
Both our Qingdao and Rizhao programs are geared around coastal culture and activities, with opportunities for scavenger hunts in modern Chinese cities. Outdoor activities include kayaking, cycling, hiking, and Stand-up-Paddleboarding (SUP). We can also facilitate a sailing lesson in Qingdao – the sailing capital of China – with qualified instructors. Our program in Daigu, meanwhile, is focused on team-building, and works well for primary school students. Last but not least is our Qufu program, whose theme is traditional Chinese culture. On this program, we offer engaging activities that promote learning around Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, and other cornerstones of Chinese culture.
